Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that starting counseling can feel like a big step, and you may have some questions before getting started

How do I know which school is right for my child?

Great question! Having the right list of colleges to apply to is the key to a successful application process. Key factors to consider about colleges include: location, size, majors, graduation rates, retention rates, social life, student-to-professor ratio, and more. And this needs to be balanced with the likelihood of admission and, ultimately, finances. We’ll help develop a customized, curated list for your child.

How often do we meet during the application process?

About weekly starting during the spring of junior year. Less before then. Parents can reach out for updates anytime and get progress reports at least monthly.

What colleges have your clients been accepted to?

Colleges all over the country! Some fun examples include: Beloit, CalArts, Cal Poly Slo, Claremont McKenna, Clemson, College of Charleston, Colorado School of Mines, Columbia, Connecticut College, Earlham, Fordham, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, Loyola Marymount, Macalester, Mount Holyoke, Northeastern, Purdue, Reed, Rice, Santa Clara, Seattle University, Southern Methodist University, Syracuse, Tufts, University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, University of Michigan, University of British Columbia, University of Colorado Boulder, University of Miami, University of Texas Austin, University of San Diego, University of San Francisco, University of Virginia, University of Washington, University of Wisconsin Madison, Villanova, Wake Forest, William and Mary …. And, of course, all of the University of California campuses. And that’s just a sample.

Is support offered in person or via Zoom?

All of our meetings are over Zoom. This allows for greater flexibility for your student and, more importantly, enables us to work on documents, like essays, together. They also have our number and they can (and do!) text anytime.
